N-D-P Leader Jagmeet Singh made a push in Alberta for votes, insisting New Democrat members of Parliament would help keep the Liberals in check. Singh warned Canadians that he believes 28-billion dollars in unspecified cost cuts in the Liberals’ costed platform could be devastating for the nation.
Liberal Leader Mark Carney reaffirmed at a campaign stop in Victoria, BC that 10-dollar-a-day child care, dental care and pharmacare, funding the CBC and addressing environmental concerns would not be included in any cuts.
New Glasgow Regional Police are asking for the public’s help to find a driver involved in a collision in a parking lot on Atlantic Drive in New Glasgow.
After some investigation, Police confirmed that a truck collided with a guard rail in the parking lot. Police say the truck then traveled down the parking lot embankment and immediately fled the scene resulting in property damage. It happened on Wednesday, April 10th at approximately 11:40 p.m. Police are also asking for the public’s help in locating a car of interest that was in the area at the time of the collision. Police have released photos of the two vehicles.
Nova Scotia’s Progressive Conservative government says unionization wasn’t behind its decision to cut the service agreement of a non-profit agency that oversees restorative justice in Halifax.
The provincial program — financed by the Justice Department — ended its 25-year relationship as the CUPE-represented caseworkers were heading into conciliation earlier this month.
CUPE’s Nova Scotia president says she suspects unionization was a factor in the decision, as the work is being temporarily shifted to an agency with non-unionized case workers.
But a Justice Department spokesperson says the department’s “commitment to delivering high-quality service” was the deciding factor.
Bryan Adams is scheduled to perform in Halifax this fall as part of an extensive run of Canadian concerts.
Adams has announced plans to perform 19 dates across the country as part of his Roll With the Punches tour.
The Canadian leg begins in Kamloops, B-C, on September 11th and rolls through Canadian cities that include Halifax, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto, and Montreal throughout September and October.
