There is still no sign of two young children who are believed to have wandered away from home in Lansdowne Station, Pictou County.
The RCMP say six-year-old Lily Sullivan and four-year-old Jack Sullivan were last seen around 10 a-m on Friday in Lansdowne Station on Gairloch Road..
Search efforts continued for a third day on Sunday with officers from multiple agencies, including police dog units, drones, and a helicopter from the Department of Natural Resources.
Police have sent out two vulnerable person alerts; one on Friday for the immediate area, and another for a wider area on Saturday. The RCMP says there is no evidence the children were abducted.
Police describe Lily Sullivan as having shoulder-length, light brown hair with bangs, and say she might be wearing a pink sweater, pink pants and pink boots. Jack Sullivan has short, blond hair and is wearing blue dinosaur boots.
A missing youth who fell into the water at Eden Lake, Pictou County was found deceased on the weekend. It was late Thursday afternoon when Pictou County District RCMP, fire services and EHS were dispatched to a report of an overturned kayaker on Eden Lake. Two youths were paddling on the lake in separate kayaks when one of them overturned, submerging the kayaker. On Friday night, at approximately 7:45 pm, divers located and recovered the remains of the youth. Police say criminality is not believed to be a factor.
A British Columbia judge has granted an extension to Northern Pulp’s creditor protection until the middle of July. At that time, lawyers for the closed Nova Scotia mill expect to present the court with details of a sales process. Justice Shelley Fitzpatrick granted the company’s request after a short hearing in B-C. Supreme Court Friday. A lawyer for Northern Pulp told the court that multiple parties are interested in submitting a bid on assets, but there wasn’t enough time to work through negotiations before the May 2nd deadline.
The Town of Trenton has been notified of bear sightings on the Airport Trail (Smelt Brook to Park Road).

– Try to get upwind of the animal
– Avoid Eye Contact (interpreted as aggression)
– Never Run (it can trigger a chase response)
– Never Climb a Tree (bears can climb too)

The Town of New Glasgow advises that the parking lot at Glasgow Square Theatre will be closed for the New Glasgow 150 Anniversary Celebrations Launch, from 8 p.m. tonight to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
