Trade seems to be top of mind as Canada’s premiers, including Premier Tim Houston, are set to hold a three-day meeting in Ontario — starting today. Day 1 though involves discussions with Indigenous leaders including the Assembly of First Nations, the Metis National Council and the Native Women’s Association of Canada. Prime Minister Mark Carney will meet with premiers on Tuesday. Many of the chiefs have expressed concerns about their rights being sidelined as the prime minister looks to accelerate projects in the “national interest.”

Due to tide issues from Tuesday (July 22nd) through July 28th, Northumberland Ferries will operate those days with restricted vehicle capacity on some sailings and some cancelled crossings. If you are planning to travel by ferry between Caribou and Wood islands, PEI between the 22nd and 28th, it would be recommended that you check the sailing schedule beforehand for the cancelled sailings, and make a reservation
Police in Cape Breton say a six-year-old boy reported missing was found dead at the base of a cliff.
Cape Breton Regional Police say officers were called to a report of a missing child in New Waterford on Saturday afternoon.
They say the child had autism and the mother noticed the child had escaped through a kitchen window.
Police say the child was found in the water near a cliff shortly after 2 p-m and did not survive.
A team of firefighters from Nova Scotia is in Saskatchewan to help with out-of-control wildfires for the second time this season. The 20-person crew flew out Saturday as members were briefed and learned where they were being deployed. Nova Scotia firefighters first went to Saskatchewan in late May and returned in June. The province deployed fire crews or other resources six times last year to help with wildfires across Canada.
