Police say a search warrant was executed August 20th at a home on Martin Street, after a social media platform alerted law enforcement to illegal material being shared. Electronic evidence was seized.
Daniel Charles MacDonald faces charges of possession, accessing, and making written child pornography. He’s been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on November 26th.

Canada’s Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc says talks in Washington with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick were constructive and optimistic.
The meeting comes after President Donald Trump boosted tariffs on Canadian goods to 35 per cent. Prime Minister Mark Carney announced Canada will lift some retaliatory tariffs on CUSMA-compliant products, but measures on steel, aluminum, and autos remain.
Carney says Canada is focused on reducing U.S. sectoral tariffs and will visit Mexico next month ahead of a CUSMA trade deal review.
Families on income assistance in Nova Scotia will now receive permanent annual support to help with back-to-school costs.
The province says an increase to August payments, introduced last year as a one-time benefit, will now be provided every year. Eligible families will receive one hundred dollars for each child aged five to twelve, and two hundred dollars for each child aged thirteen to eighteen. Some pre-primary children and youth still in high school up to age twenty may also qualify.
Social Development Minister Scott Armstrong says the support will ease financial pressure and help children succeed in school.
