Gas prices went down overnight in Nova Scotia, while diesel prices went up slightly. The price of regular gasoline went down by 3.0 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline at $1.50 per litre in the local area. Diesel prices rose by 0.9 cents per litre, leaving the minimum pump price for diesel at $1.52 per litre locally.

The Province has lifted woods restrictions in Pictou and Colchester Counties — and that took effect at 4pm on Thursday. Residents can now access the woods in the two counties. However, the burn ban remains in effect across Nova Scotia until October 15 (the end of wildfire season) or until further notice. There are still a number of counties in the province where the woods restrictions remain in place.
Nova Scotia Health says there were more than 84-thousand people on its registry for people needing primary health care as of September 1st. That’s a decrease of more than 38-hundred people from the last count on August 1st. The health authority says the number may have gone down because people were matched with a doctor, or because they no longer needed one for a variety of reasons. Nearly eight per cent of the province’s population is on the registry.
Prime Minister Mark Carney says Ottawa is prepared to work with Nova Scotia to ramp up its offshore wind energy industry.
The prime minister made the announcement yesterday after confirming that five other projects would be considered first for fast-track approval under major projects legislation.
Carney also pointed to an additional five projects that are in their early stages and require further development, including Nova Scotia’s Wind West project.
For the early-stage projects, the prime minister has directed the new Major Projects Office to create business development teams to “make these projects a reality.”
Dalhousie University’s board of governors has made a new offer to a union of nearly one-thousand members following conciliation meetings earlier this week. The university says it presented the offer to the Dalhousie Faculty Association Wednesday, after months of negotiations over a new collective agreement. Both parties met on Monday and Tuesday at the request of a provincially appointed conciliator, but concluded without an announced deal and with no planned future meetings.
The 25th Atlantic Open Farm Day is set for Sunday, September 21st. Open Farm Day gives Nova Scotians the rare opportunity to go behind the scenes and experience the places and people who grow our food. On Open Farm Day, 20 different farms across Nova Scotia – from Shelburne County to Cape Breton – will take part and visitors will be able to explore working farms, and participate in educational activities for the whole family.
