Pictou County District RCMP have charged two men who fled from police in McLellans Brook.
Last Thursday, just before 7:30am, officers responded to a report of a possible impaired driver on MacKenzie Rd. Officers located the vehicle and determined that it was hauling a stolen trailer, but when police attempted to arrest the driver, he and the passenger fled. They drove into a field off Mackenzie Rd. and crashed into a tree, and then both men took off on foot. With help from police dog services and an RCMP drone operator, the passenger was located and arrested in a wooded area near the field shortly after. Police say the driver, while on the run, stole a vehicle that they were able to remotely disable with its OnStar system and he was arrested. The driver, a 34-year old Truro Heights man, is facing multiple charges.
