A test of the national Alert Ready emergency alerting system will take place in Nova Scotia today at 1:55 p.m. This will be the second regularly scheduled test this year.
The alert will be sent to compatible mobile devices, radio and TV. The alert message you receive will clearly indicate that it is a test and you will not need to take any action.
This alert will also be sent through the NS Alert app, so those people who have downloaded the app will receive two alerts.
A statement Tuesday from Pictou Centre MLA Danny MacGillivray regarding a replacement school for Trenton Elementary and Trenton Middle schools. MacGillivray says there is land on Park Road between the rink and Trenton Park that is suitable for a replacement school, and there has been various testing completed on the site. He says the only test remaining is the videoing of the existing sewer line, which is scheduled and being coordinated with the Town of Trenton. MacGillivray says that if the land passes these tests, then the next step is to negotiate a price to purchase the land from the municipality. He says that if the land is suitable and a price can be agreed upon, then the Province will make site recommendations to the Education Minister for approval. The expectation is that a Request for Proposal to design and build the school would be issued before the end of this calendar year, with a new Trenton school being built as soon as possible.
