There was an adjustment in the price of diesel overnight in Nova Scotia due to significant shifts in the market price of diesel oil. The price of diesel decreased by 7.1 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for self-serve diesel at $1.73 per litre locally. There’s no change in gas prices.

Nova Scotia Power says regular meter reading should resume by the end of March, following a security breach last April.
On Tuesday, the utility’s C-E-O, Peter Gregg, answered questions from the provincial natural resources committee regarding data security and rising bills for customers.
Gregg told the committee that after the security breach, N-S Power was unable to digitally read power meters on customers’ homes and resorted to using estimates for bills. Some customers have reported the estimated bills are higher than they were last year over the same period of time.
The federal government will limit foreign steel imports and cut interprovincial rail freight rates to support Canadian steel producers hit by U-S tariffs.
Imports from non-free-trade countries will drop from 50-to-20-per cent of 2024 levels, creating an estimated 854-million-dollars in domestic demand.
C-N Rail rates for shipping steel between provinces will be cut by 50-per cent, with Ottawa covering any shortfall.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is also expected to announce supports for the softwood lumber industry.
More than 5.4-billion dollars in cannabis tax revenue has been collected since the 2018 legalization of the drug. The federal government has collected 1.2-billion dollars alone, while the remaining 4.2-billion comes from provincial collections. Ontario leads the nation with the greatest provincial share of revenue, followed by Alberta, despite having less than a third of the population. Quebec saw the lowest per capita share of recreational cannabis tax revenue.
World champion curler and veteran broadcaster Colleen Jones has died at the age of 65. Jones — who spent nearly four decades with the C-B-C — was diagnosed with cancer in early 2023. Her son Luke announced she died Tuesday morning. A Halifax native, Jones was named a member of the Order of Canada in 2022 and won her first Canadian women’s curling championship in 1982 at the age of 22.
