Pictou County is under a Yellow Warning for Snowfall under Environment Canada’s new colour-coded weather alerts system. Yellow Alerts are the most common, meaning that hazardous weather may cause damage or disruption, and the impacts are moderate, localized and/or short-term. With this storm system, Environment Canada says we could see some significant snowfall from late this afternoon until Wednesday afternoon. The snow will be changing to rain after midnight, and there is a risk of freezing rain late this evening and after midnight. The snow is expected to be wet and heavy. The winds will also strengthen tonight, gusting northeasterly to 70km/h after midnight.

Prime Minister Mark Carney appointed Montreal M-P Marc Miller as minister of Canadian identity and culture, as well as giving him the official languages portfolio.
The appointment comes after Steven Guilbeault’s resignation over a federal-Alberta energy pact.
Miller is facing U-S pressure to repeal the Online Streaming and News Acts, but says Canada must protect its arts and culture while addressing online harms.
Cultural groups expect him to safeguard copyright, regulate A-I, and fully implement the acts, while Conservatives criticized his past cabinet record.
Nova Scotia liquor stores began selling U-S liquor again Monday, but only for a limited time.
The province is selling off its remaining stock of alcohol from the U-S and plans to donate the proceeds to charity.
Premier Tim Houston says the province had already paid for the products and they shouldn’t go to waste, and he says there are no plans to reorder inventory from the U-S-A once this stockpile has been sold.
The government expects to donate roughly 4 million dollars to Feed Nova Scotia and other food-related charities in the coming weeks through this liquor sale.
