There’s no change in gas prices. The minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline is still at $1.79 per litre locally.

Pictou County District RCMP are investigating the theft of dozens of vases from headstones in a cemetery in Sylvester. On April 4th, police were called to the cemetery on Alma Rd. and investigators believe that over 60 vases were stolen sometime between March 21st and April 4th. Staff at the cemetery have confirmed that the vases were not removed by employees during maintenance or other upkeep. The provincial government is exploring whether to create a transit network linking Halifax to three other communities across Nova Scotia. The province says it’s looking to gauge interest from service providers for a new system connecting the capital city with Truro, Wolfville and Bridgewater. It says the inter-municipal transit system would offer regular, dependable travel along routes for daily commuting. The Department of Public Works says the network would ideally connect to existing fixed-route services run by municipalities.
The Town of New Glasgow has announced a new partnership with North Nova Education Centre to offer the New Glasgow Fire Cadet Program, beginning this coming September. The program will be open to students in Grades 10 through 12 and delivered as an after-school initiative through the Town of New Glasgow Fire Department. Participants will have the opportunity to earn a Fire Fighter 11 high school credit while gaining valuable, hands-on experience in the field of firefighting.
