Pictou County District RCMP say their investigation has determined that the circumstances surrounding a man’s disappearance over a week ago is considered suspicious. 61-year-old Steven Boudreau was last seen on Elgin Rd. in Hopewell on April 18th at approximately 5 p.m. Boudreau is described as 6-foot-2, 190 lbs with grey hair and blue eyes. On Friday, officers recovered a white Honda Accord in Kings County. The vehicle is currently being processed by RCMP Forensic Identification Services — however, it is believed to be Boudreau’s car. The RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation with assistance from Pictou County District RCMP, Kings District RCMP, and RCMP Forensic Identifications Services.

Shortly before 5:00pm on Sunday, New Glasgow Police responded to a report of a possible bomb threat at the Aberdeen Business Centre on East River Road in New Glasgow. New Glasgow Police, with assistance from the New Glasgow Fire Department, safely evacuated the entire building as a precaution. The area remained closed to the public for several hours while police conducted their investigation and residents were asked to avoid the area. A thorough search of the building was carried out by New Glasgow Police Officers in coordination with the RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit with assistance of Stellarton Police Service and the Department of Emergency Management. No suspicious items were located. The scene was cleared at approximately 8:30 p.m. and the preliminary investigation indicates that the threat is not believed to be credible.
Police in Halifax say three people were killed Saturday in a fire in Lower Sackville. R-C-M-P say first responders arrived at the residence just before 4 a-m. They say officers tried to get into the home right away, but the smoke was too intense. Fire crews began dousing the flames and got into the home, where they found three adults: a 43-year-old man, a 38-year-old woman and a 73-year-old woman. First responders tried to revive them, but they succumbed to their injuries.
The Interrupter Clause was invoked over the weekend, and gas and diesel prices both went up Saturday morning in Nova Scotia. The price of regular gasoline rose by 6.6 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline at $1.85 per litre in the local area. The price of diesel went up by 6.4 cents per litre, leaving the minimum pump price for self-serve diesel at $2.14 per litre locally.
