Striking long-term care workers in Nova Scotia held a rally outside of the legislature in downtown Halifax Monday morning.
CUPE says workers from 30 long-term care homes are on the picket lines fighting for a living wage.
Their collective agreements with the province expired in 2023.
About three-thousand workers are now on strike, and many of them have been on the picket lines for two weeks.
Long term care workers at Shiretown and Ivey’s Terrace Nursing Homes in Trenton; Maritime Odd Fellows in New Glasgow; and Valley View Manor in New Glasgow are among those on strike.

The RCMP provided an update Monday on the status of the construction of the new Pictou County District RCMP Detachment in Stellarton. The Mounties say it’s starting to take shape with everything from interior framing and mechanical work to major strides on the roof. The RCMP says the new facility remains on track to open later this year.
The annual National Day of Mourning ceremony honouring workers who have been killed, injured, or made ill as a result of workplace incidents will be held tonight at 6:00 p.m. at Trenton Steeltown Park.
Hosted by the Pictou County Injured Workers Association in partnership with the Town of New Glasgow and the Town of Trenton, the ceremony provides an opportunity for community members, employers, workers, and families to come together in remembrance and to reaffirm a shared commitment to safer workplaces.
