More increases in gasoline and diesel prices overnight.  The price of regular gasoline increased by 7.4 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline at $1.92 per litre in the local area.  The price of diesel increased by 2.5 cents per litre, leaving the minimum pump price for self-serve diesel at $2.16 per litre locally.

The R-C-M-P are asking for the public’s help as they continue to investigate the disappearance of two children reported missing almost one year ago.  The mother of four-year-old Jack Sullivan and his six-year-old sister Lilly told police on the morning of May 2nd, 2025, that the pair had wandered away from their home in Lansdowne Station.  R-C-M-P Staff Sergeant Rob McCamon issued a statement Thursday saying investigators have received more than 11-hundred tips from the public.  But the senior investigator stressed the R-C-M-P is only interested in “verifiable details” rather than rumour and speculation.

 

 

New Glasgow Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision that happened about 9:50am on Thursday on East River Road in New Glasgow.  New Glasgow Police, New Glasgow Fire Department, and Emergency Health Services all responded to the scene.   No life-threatening injuries were reported, but both vehicles sustained significant damage and had to be towed from the scene.

 

 

One of the world’s rarest whale species is having more calves this year than in some recent seasons.  But experts say many more young are needed to help stave off the possibility of extinction for the North Atlantic right whales that frequent the Maritimes.

The total population is estimated at 384 animals, and is slowly rising after several years of decline.  The whales give birth off the southeastern United States every winter before migrating north to Canadian waters to feed.
