A 37-year old man from Trenton is facing multiple charges following a drug trafficking investigation in Pictou County. On April 30th, police arrested the man in Mountville and he was found to be in possession of fentanyl and cash, and his truck was seized. After his arrest, police searched a home and seized more fentanyl, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, cash, and thousands of hydromorphone pills, with an estimated street value exceeding $50-thousand. A stolen motorcycle was also recovered. A search of the man’s truck on May 4th resulted in police finding
more presumed fentanyl, digital scales, and stolen tools. The man is facing several drug charges and is being held in custody with an appearance in Pictou Provincial Court set for June 8th.
The Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit has executed a search at a home in Trenton as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation and arrested one person. During the search, a quantity of cocaine was seized, along with cash, scales, baggies, scoresheets and a cell phone. Police say the street value of the seized cocaine is estimated at approximately $10,000. A 41-year old Trenton woman has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine) and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. She’s been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on August 10.

The MADD Canada Award honours Constable Heidi Stevenson, and recognizes police officers’ efforts to make Nova Scotia’s roadways safer.
Silver Award Winners (who removed between 15 and 23 impaired drivers from the roads), include Cst. Bailey Mouland of Pictou County District RCMP.
55 Bronze Award Recipients will be honoured by their respective local police agencies.
Nova Scotia workers and businesses affected by global market shifts, trade changes and tariffs will have access to new training and income supports. The assistance – funded by the federal government and delivered through provincial programs – will be available to those in export-related industries such as steel, softwood lumber, fisheries and seafood, agri-food and others. Over the next three years, the investment will support more than 15-hundred workers who have been directly or indirectly affected by tariffs and global market shifts.
Nova Scotia’s provincial parks start opening for the season this Victoria Day weekend. Most day-use and camping parks open on Friday, and the rest will open by June 5. Provincial parks attract more than a million visitors annually, with the number of campers increasing each year.
