Due to the provincial ban on woods travel including fishing. Sheet Harbour and area Ground Search and Rescue have to make the unfortunate call to cancel our fishing derby on Saturday June 3rd. This decision is necessary to protect our communities as well as the forest surrounding us.

The team has decided to host a free barbecue consisting of hamburgers, hotdogs sausages and chilli at our garage at 44 Behie road Sheet Harbour at 2pm this Saturday. We will be having ice cream, cake, face painting and activities for kids. This is an invitation is to all who can to join us. We will be doing all ticket draws at 3 pm.

After three years of no fish derby we did not expect to be cancelled this year and so close to the even date. Our apologies to all who had planed to travel this weekend to our area for the 25 derby. Our new plan and objective for Saturday is to give the community especially the kids a fun day.

Our team has decided to donate our half of the 50/50 to the Red Cross to help the victims of the Nova Scotia wild fires. Currently it sits at nearly 2,000. A donation jar will also be on site for anyone who wishes to contribute. Thank you all for your continued support and let get through this by supporting and helping each other.
